Georgiy Shakhgildyan is a PhD in Chemical Engineering and Associate Professor at Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology in Moscow, Russia. His research focuses on optical glass-ceramics, photonic glasses, plasmonic nanoparticles, and femtosecond laser writing in glass materials.
Dr. Shakhgildyan's work includes designing and synthesizing new optical glasses, developing plasmonic nanoparticles with rare-earth ions in glass, and advancing femtosecond laser writing techniques for creating micro-optics in glass. He regularly delivers lectures and seminars on glass science and photonics, and serves as an editor for special issues in his field.
In 2023, Dr. Shakhgildyan received the Moscow Government Prize for Young Scientists for his pioneering work in laser-induced structural modification of optical materials for photonics and optoelectronics applications.
He serves as an expert for the Russian Science Foundation (RSF) and the "Priority-2030" Academic Leadership Program. Dr. Shakhgildyan is also a member of editorial boards for multiple journals specializing in glass science and photonics.
